The West Kowloon Cultural District will create a new cultural neighbourhood in Hong Kong. It will comprise several performing arts buildings such as the Music Centre (2000 seat symphonic concert hall, a 600 seat chamber hall and orchestra rehearsal hall), the Grand Theatre (2000 seat opera house, 400 seat chamber opera), the Music Theatre (2000 seat amplified events auditorium) and a Medium Theatre (600 seat theatre and 150 seat theatre). Theatre Projects was appointed to establish the acoustic and theatre design programmes as well as early design recommendations in terms of acoustic criteria, room dimensions and volume required, and structural isolation of the building required for sound insulation. All this information was provided in order to establish the footprint of each building.
